Chancellor unveils Back to Work plan

20 Nov 2023

Chancellor Jeremy Hunt recently unveiled the government's new Back to Work plan, which provides 'employment focused support' designed to help people move into work.

Announced as part of the upcoming 2023 Autumn Statement, the Treasury said getting more people into work and ensuring work pays remain 'key priorities' for the government.

The new Back to Work plan builds on the £7 billion employment package announced at the 2023 Spring Budget and expands the employment support and treatment available for those seeking work.

The plan also includes expanding key health and employment programmes to benefit more than half a million people over the next five years.

The Chancellor stated: 'We're serious about growing our economy and that means we must address the rise in people who aren't looking for work – especially because we know so many of them want to and with almost a million vacancies in the jobs market the opportunities are there.

'These changes mean there's help and support for everyone.'
